The Qiblah
Wall
The wall extending along the Qiblah was designed in two lateral parts, each 50 metres long.
The pattern reflects that of the facing wall yet
does not emphasis its chrome colour, in order not to deflect concentration during prayer. The central
section forms an open page showing the 99 Names of Allah. In the centre of the wall is the Mihrab, with
inlaid gold mosaic created by Fantini Mosaici.
The entire Qiblah Wall is dressed in pierced marble panels, articulated with an intricate inlay of white gold mosaic and illuminated from the back. The void and transparency provided by the wall lightens the structure and accentuates the metaphor of the passage, in the direction of Makkah.
